Realme Buds Air 3: Headset with better sound and ANC at a lower price

A little over a year ago, true wireless earphones were rarely seen in the affordable category. But in the recent past, there have been several brands that have launched TWS models with essential features like active noise cancellation and app support.

Some products launched initially in this segment like - Realme Buds Air 2 were mediocre in terms of performance and capability. But brands like Oppo and OnePlus have come a long way in this matter and set a benchmark by giving everything that is available for less than Rs 5000.

The Realme Buds Air 3 is priced at Rs 3,999 in Nepal  and comes in Stary Blue and Galaxy White colours. Recently, the company has also launched their Nitro Blue version, on which white colored racing stripes have also been given. The price of this variant is Rs 4,999.

The color and finish of the charging case of the Realme Buds Air 3 is similar to that of the earpiece.

There's an indicator light at the front, a USB Type-C port at the bottom, and a Bluetooth pairing button on the right. At the top is the Realme logo.

The review unit sent to me had my name printed on the back of the case, but realme has confirmed that it is not yet available for customers in Nepal.

Realme maintains a very good track record in terms of value for money products. Realme Buds Air 3 has carried forward this feature of the company.

This time the sound quality and active noise cancellation have improved. It also comes with some useful features like multi-point connectivity.

In terms of price, the sound quality and ANC performance in Realme Buds Air 3 is quite good. Although the quality is less than Oppo Enco Air 2 Pro or OnePlus Buds Z2. Nevertheless, the overall experience makes this handset worth buying in this price range.

US regulators expanded a probe into Tesla's "Autopilot" system,

US regulators expanded a probe into Tesla's "Autopilot" system, moving the investigation closer to a potential recall of a controversial feature in Elon Musk's electric vehicles.

"Autopilot and associated systems may exacerbate human factors or behaviour safety risks by undermining the effectiveness of the driver's supervision," according to a summary statement.

The agency now considers the probe an "engineering analysis" — which in NHTSA parlance upgrades the status from a "preliminary evaluation" — to determine "whether a safety recall should be initiated or the investigation should be closed." Tesla did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

NHTSA opened the probe in August 2021 after identifying 11 crashes involving a first responder vehicle and a Tesla in which Autopilot or Traffic Aware Cruise Control was engaged, and five additional cases were later found that fit into this group.

Additional forensic data on 11 of the incidents showed the drivers took no action to avert a crash between two and five seconds prior to impact,

The agency also probed more than 100 crashes not involving an emergency vehicle in which Tesla Autopilot or another driver-assistance system was engaged.

In about half of these cases, evidence suggests the driver was "insufficiently responsive" to driving conditions, NHTSA said.

Looking at a subset of 43 of those crashes that yielded more detailed data, NHTSA determined that in 37, the driver's hands were on the steering wheel in the last second prior to the collision.

The automaker has defended the safety of the Autopilot feature, and say when used correctly it reduces the chance of an accident.

But NHTSA said, "A driver's use or misuse of vehicle components does not necessarily preclude a system defect" particularly "if the driver behavior in question is foreseeable in light of the system's design."
