The situation of"LGBTIQ" in Nepal
LGBTIQ is an initialize that stands for Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, Intersex and
queer LGBTIQ is a term almost everyone is familiar with but still estranged from it.
Even in the 21st century where people are studying other planets and the alien lived, we still curiously
question about the people who do not fall under the category of the mainstream male or
female.
It is one of the unspoken issues as it is considered as "taboo" in almost every society,
especially in our Nepali society, these things are considered unnatural and people treat them
very differently our Nepali society is not so modern about it with this research we try to look
into the secretive lives of the transgender community and see how they go about in their daily
lives and the day to day struggles they have to face in order to survive.
This research holds deep importance as to aware and educate ourselves to know more
about these 'Queer' people looking into things from their perspective can provide great insight
to their behavior and appurtenance that people find so weird. The main LGBIT-specific
provisions included in the constitution are Article 18. "Right to equality", which states that
the state cannot discriminate against gender and sexual minorities and Article 42 "Right to
social Justice" which provides gender and sexual minorities with the right to participate in
state mechanism and public services.
Additionally, Article 12 ensures the citizens of Nepal can choose their preferred gender
identity-male, female or other on citizenship documents with all of these problems there are
people coming out as transgender matter what they do as a profession, they are struggling to
make a living on their own without any support from the society, government and family
which is very brave of them as we normal people live in support of family, society and
friends but they do not have support system in their life which makes it difficult for them to it
definitely makes them much more brave than us. However, now things are changing
gradually in the higher level and societal level as well. In this research we look into things
from their prospective.
